Days after restraining the West Bengal government from taking any coercive action against Gorkha Janmukti Morcha leader Bimal Gurung, the Supreme Court on Friday agreed to re-examine its order after the state alleged that he was involved in heinous offences of murder and rioting and more than 77 case had been registered against him. Appearing before a bench of Justices A K Sikri and Ashok Bhushan, the state’s counsel Abhishek Manu Singhvi contended that the court erred in protecting him in criminal cases as he is a fugitive and had gone absconding. know more
